Adidas solar glide vs solar boost

Before we get into the details of Adidas solar glide vs solar boost, it’s important to know that both shoes are very similar. If you like the Adidas solar boost you will probably also like the Adidas solar glide. They are similar, but there are still differences, in this article we will take an in-depth look at the differences and similarities, so you can find out which shoe fits you best!

Comfort

Both shoes are almost identical when it comes to comfort. They can be considered as great allround shoes who run really comfortable.

The sock liners are really comfortable and have nice cushioning. However, it must be said that the cushioning will start to compress pretty fast, making the shoe slightly less comfortable. The impact isn’t that bad, but it’s still worth mentioning.

Both shoes use Boost technology, which is appreciated by almost all runners who tried out one of these shoes!

Stability

The shoes are once again somewhat similar when it comes to stability. However, there is a small difference, the solar boost does slightly outperform the solar glide.

The outsoles are almost similar, the only difference being a minor change in stability. It’s worth noting that some runners did not really notice a difference where others noticed a slight one.

If you really care about stability you should take a look at the ST models. Both shoes have ST models, which is nothing more than a version with improved stability. Simply click one of the links below to take a look at the ST models.

Not sure whether or not you care about stability? In this case you probably don’t need the additional stability and you are fine with one of the standard models.

Weight

Another important factor when looking at a performance running shoe would be weight. So how does the adidas solar glide compare to the adidas solar boost?

No surprises here, they weigh almost identical. 11 grams difference to be exact.

When comparing the same sizes of shoes the Adidas solar glide weighs 514 grams whereas the adidas solar boost weighs 503 grams.

All in all both shoes are pretty mediocre when it comes to weight, not terrible, not great.

Breathablility

When comparing the adidas solar glide vs solar boost in terms of breathability, the solar glide takes the win.

The boost doesn’t perform terrible when it comes to breathability, but a lot of runners would have stil preferred this shoe to be more breathable.

The solar glide did make some improvements when it comes to breathability, just by looking at the shoe you can tell that it’s pretty breathable.

The solar glide is still not among the most breathable runner shoes though.

Durability

In terms of durability, both shoes are once again identical.

There is only one element in the shoe that is a clear bottleneck -and it’s probably no surprise- it’s the outer sole.

Initially, the grip is outstanding, however, after a while the pattern on the outer sole starts to decline. Once again, this doesn’t happen after running 10 miles, and the decline isn’t extremely terrible, but it’s still a shame.

That being said, the other elements of the shoe are absolutely great when it comes to durability.

Overall, they are not great, but also not terrible when it comes to durability.

Price

Since the shoes are so much alike, the price is actually the deciding factor for me.

The Adidas solar glide shoes are cheaper than the solar boost shoes. Since the prices are changing so often, it’s easier to simply check the latest price on amazon. (They usually have the cheapest prices by the way).

If you could find them on a discount, I feel like they can be bought pretty cheap. However, when paying the full price for the Adidas solar boost shoes, it’s hard to consider these shoes cheap. Especially when considering that these shoes will not last for years (unless you don’t use them that often).

When looking at everything combined, I would say that these shoes are priced correctly. When on discount, they can definitely be considered cheap! Especially the Adidas solar glide shoes can be bought for a good price.

Boost:

Verdict

Solar boost 74%
Solar glide 78%

So what’s the verdict? Well, since these shoes are very similar it’s no surprise that it’s almost a tie.

However, the glide has my personal preference, and the price difference was then deciding factor. Keep in mind that personal preference comes into play here… It’s going to depend on what you are looking for in a shoe whether or not you would prefer the Adidas solar boost or the solar glide.

I would also like to mention that even though these shoes don’t excel at anything in particular, they are great overall shoes. If you are looking for a solid allround daily trainer, both shoes would definitely by among my top recommendations!
